I Published My 2nd Book Today — It’s Called “2-Minute Pep Talks”
Pep talks are like vitamins: You can take them every day preemptively, or you can wait until your body signals a lack of them — but sooner or later, you will need your vitamins.
Vitamins aren’t steroids. Their purpose is not to boost you beyond what you are capable of. They merely restore your body’s natural balance. When it comes to pep talks, the balance they maintain is not your health but your spirit.
When we are young, our spirits run high all the time. As we grow up, we lose some, sometimes all, of the youthful glow of optimism — but not for a lack of trying. Drugs, entertainment, we might use all kinds of addictions and distractions in hopes of regaining our zest for life, but in the end, they always come up short, because as with steroid injections, the effects from a temporary solution can’t last forever.
According to thinker Prachi Nain, we don’t need to inject anything into our lives in the first place. We simply need to get back to our natural, high-spirited state. “A good pep talk doesn’t load you up with something that doesn’t belong to you,” Nain writes. It simply removes “the built-up layers of self-doubt and fear.” Don’t think of a pep talk like an energy gel handed to a marathoner mid-run to eke out an extra mile, Nain suggests. Think of it “like taking away a heavy backpack.” Like removing a weight from your shoulders. That’s what my new book, 2-Minute Pep Talks, is for.
2-Minute Pep Talks is here to take off your backpack or, at the very least, remind you to take it off yourself. Drop the emotional baggage that doesn’t serve you, and you’ll thrive thanks to the feeling of lightness that remains. What is that feeling made of? Hope, love, and comfort, mostly. Often in reverse order.
With 67 daily messages full of those three things, 2-Minute Pep Talks will make sure you maintain your inner balance. Some pep talks will make you feel more comfortable in your own skin. Others will remind you to love yourself enough to ask life for what you truly want, and others still will provide you with the world’s scarcest resource: hope.
True inspiration is soft, not hard. It is comforting. Warm. Like the glow of a candle more so than a grand display of firework explosions. 2-Minute Pep Talks wants to give you this calm yet lasting feeling of inspiration. Think green tea’s slow caffeine build-up vs coffee’s instant kick. And of course, like steeping green tea, finding said inspiration only takes 2 minutes a day.
Whether you’re looking for a pick-me-up, new perspectives, or more fuel to accomplish your dreams — if you’re ready to regain that light, optimistic feeling we all used to possess as children, this book is for you. You can order your copy today for as little as $4.
Whether you’ve discovered it eight years ago or only just now, thank you for reading my work, and as with the last one, I still hope this is only the second of many to follow!
