You’re right about everyone having a mother, but as I’m thinking about this: you have no recollection of the experience of being born, so it’s almost as if you hadn’t been there at all.

But the latter part is interesting. I guess there are no statistics about this, but I’m pretty sure only a small fraction of people dies in the presence of other people. Even if you have the perfect, peaceful death, there’s a high chance it might be falling asleep in the hospital at night and not waking up while your daughter’s gone home — or to get a pretzel.

I can sure see the irony in me writing an article like this with the kind of job I have, but I think you have to look at that aspect a little more pragmatically. I don’t want followers to feel less alone, followers help me make a living :D
