Yes, I think values and principles apply as synonyms. Although a principle indicates more rigidity than a theme. I’d rather call them theme-driven goals, but yes, having goals as little add-ons to your theme is a lot better than just having goals. I guess it depends on how good you become at picking themes, but if you choose the right ones, most of your goals should happen as byproducts sooner or later, so you can either keep them on the back burner or “forget” them after you set them, the outcome will likely be the same.
