… ‘let the current carry you instead’, you might end up having little control over where you end up. You’ve got to pick your battles, obviously, but it doesn’t seem right to believe that you shouldn’t sometimes persevere to reach the outcome you want.
The comment isn’t about giving up. It’s about persevering the right way. Most people insist on persisting, which is just doing the same thing over and over again. Persevering is about trying all angles until you find one that works. The difference is just in how you reach your goal, in being flexible. It’s not about doing nothing at all and just hanging around. At least, that’s how I meant it!
