That's pretty much the only way I think about it these days. I try not to break certain hard rules that make it easier to have correct grammar in place, like the Oxford comma etc., but whenever I do deviate it's mostly because it just flows nicer when I read it to myself in my head. Sometimes, I want people to get three points quickly in a row, sometimes, it's fine to have a pause between each one, and so on.
