Something similar happened to me in 2015. You don’t really know someone until you hurt them. You shouldn’t set out to do so, but, once you accidentally do — and we all do if the relationship lasts long enough — you see their true colors. Their reaction often says more about their character and your relationship than you screwing up. Funny how that works. You make a mistake, and, because the other person takes it poorly, you realize you don’t want their approval after all, maybe not even have them in your life. Definitely one of life’s weirder quirks.
