I’ve been a very emotional and sensitive person for as long as I can remember, so I’m not sure I’m qualified to answer this, but I think “trodding along happily without emotions” is somewhat of a paradox, no? It sounds like you may feel as if life is a bit dull, maybe you crave novelty or intensity. These are important, but you can’t take them in too big gulps either. Maybe try to break some routines, sign up for something you’ve never tried, or spend time with someone in nature or an unfamiliar environment. See what that triggers, which of your emotions wake up, and if the overall experience adds to your happiness or subtracts from it. Then, go from there. Hope that’s somewhat useful.
